Answers.com Articles for October

10/20/2013

I'd like to apologize for the negative and somewhat unprofessional tone of my last few posts.  Although I get a lot of Facebook "Likes"and comments when I rant about low carb not being accepted as quickly as I'd like, I'm actually a pretty optimistic person most of the time, and I do realize that progress is being made. Patience isn't one of my strong suits, but I'm working on it! I'm really looking forward to going into private practice at the end of December, and I've got so much to be grateful for, including my wonderful and loyal readers.

Today's post is much less controversial: Answers.com articles for this month.  Some of these I've already tweeted or posted on Facebook, and I'll probably do the same with the others over the next few days. I know many of you don't do Twitter or Facebook and instead follow my RSS feed or just check back now and then, so here are all ten October articles in one place. Please take a moment to click on them and give feedback at the end of the article ("Helpful" or "Not Helpful") when you have time. Also, feel free to continue to send ideas for articles or additional feedback.  Thanks very much!

“I'd like to apologize for the negative and somewhat unprofessional tone of my last few posts.”

Good grief Franziska you are the last person on earth to have to apologise to anyone. I have never found you to be negative or unprofessional. You are a positive force for good, and with more like you, we may see a turning point in the twin epidemics of obesity and the often linked type two diabetes.

Keep up your great work, I know it is a tough job at times, but someone has to do it, and if ever someone was touched by the hand of destiny, it is you. I have been around a long time, and very rarely has anyone impressed me as much as you.

Kind regards Eddie

Wow, thanks so much for your kind words, Eddie. I think I went a little over the top yesterday, though. As a registered dietitian, I do need to remain professional and not call out people and organizations in such a strident manner. Trust me, I intend to keep working just as hard toward having carb restriction considered an
option -- ideally, the standard diet -- for diabetes management. But I need to tone it down a little. You know what they say about catching more flies with honey than vinegar.

I do appreciate your support very much, and you can count on me to keep fighting the good fight :) And please keep up your great work as well.

I appreciate your post has been up a few days but I have just read your five easy low carb breakfast ideas, some good hints, tips and recipes. We do sometimes have to look further than bacon and eggs - not that there is anything wrong with bacon and eggs you understand!

All the best Jan

Thanks so much, Jan! I love bacon and eggs as much as the next person, but changing things up is always fun :)

I finally got a chance to listen to your TuDiabetes interview and plan to follow your blog. I have had Type 1 since 1976 and am a believer that low carb diets are one of the most powerful tools for BG control. I do wish that my actions were as strong as my beliefs but I continue to work hard everyday to eat a reasonably low carb diet.

I have a question about your spinach and artichoke casserole recipe. Do I drain the artichoke hearts or use the water also?

Thanks.

Welcome, and thanks so much for your comments, Laddie! I'm glad you enjoyed the TuDiabetes interview and hope you enjoy my blog as well.

Very good question about the artichoke hearts. They should be drained. I'll make that change to the article right now. Thank you!

I can understand how hard it must be for you not to get too militant, especially when you advocate a system that could potentially improve millions of lives. But, as they say, 'softly, softly, catchee monkee!'

Keep up the fantastic work. A lot of us are listening and taking heed.
